Carla Shulman, NPNurse Practitioner
Carly Shulman bgan her career in women's health as a childbirth educator in 1976 and assisted women during labor to achieve their goal of natural childbirth. Graduated nursing school in Broward County in 1979 and began sharing her medical experience working hospital labor and delivery. In 1980 started her preceptor program through the Nurses Association of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and in 1983 achieved her board certification as an Obstetric/Gynecologic Nurse Practitioner. Certified as a level I ultrasound technician and became a member of the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine in 1986. Completed colposcopy training in 1992. Became an educational affiliate with the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists in 1995. Received her Florida license as a Healthcare Risk Manager in 2000. Over the past thirty years, she has held several senior management positions and honed her clinical skills with several physician providers learning surgical assisting, gynecologic oncology, evaluation of infertilty including artificial insemination, management of abnormal gynecologic findings, menopausal management, and adolescent gynecology. She received recognition from the Florida Nurses Association as Broward County ARNP of the year in 2002 and was recognized by Soroptomist International of Boca Raton as Woman of Distinction in Healthcare in 2003. In 2006, she was awarded professional recognition with Associate's level in Risk Management from the Florida Society for Healthcare Risk Management and Patient Safety. Since that time, Carla managed her own practice until coming to Heathrow Ob/Gyn at Orange City.
